Introduction
Here’s the deal: we built this replacement lamp for one machine—the SIG Blomax 6 blow molder—and we built it to be a straight swap. No rework. No messing with the equipment. It’s all about getting that high-intensity infrared heat back where it needs to be: on the PET preforms, so they reheat fast and even. Plug it in, and it just runs—because it matches the original power, size, and connector.
Technical Deep-Dive
Inside, you’ve got a high-wattage halogen infrared element, chosen specifically for what the Blomax 6 demands. The voltage, wattage, and tube length are all lined up with the machine’s thermal needs, so preforms hit the right melt point quickly and consistently. And the high-voltage approach? It pulls less current for the same power. That keeps wiring sizes reasonable and helps prevent voltage drop along the existing lines. It’s also compact, so it fits right into that tight reflector cavity and keeps the original heat pattern and beam focus where it should be.
Material & Design
We went with a quartz tube because it can handle rapid heating and cooling—day after day—without softening or falling apart. The halogen element inside stays stable over time, and the internal gas fill protects the filament, which helps the lamp last longer. The coating on the tube is tuned to shape the energy output, pushing it into the wavelengths PET absorbs best. That means faster, more efficient heating. Then there’s the R7s connector. It holds tight, seats cleanly, and gives you a solid electrical connection that can take the vibration and heat shock of a running line.
Application & Benefits
On the Blomax 6, this lamp is a true drop-in replacement. But it’s also designed to work across a wide range of blow molding machines. So when a lamp burns out, you swap it fast. No waiting around for OEM lead times. And the heating stays consistent, which helps keep cycle times steady. Just keep one thing in mind: at full power, this lamp throws serious heat. Make sure the machine’s cooling is doing its job and the reflector is in good shape, so you don’t overheat nearby parts.
