Getting Your Sidel Matrix Lamps Right
Here’s the deal: when you swap out heating lamps in a Sidel Matrix oven, you’re playing a dangerous game with your temperature curve. If the new lamp isn’t a perfect match for the original, things go sideways fast. You’ll start seeing weird wall thickness or that annoying pearlescence in your PET bottles. Nobody wants that. It’s all about the heat density. We don’t just make lamps that “turn on.” We build them to mirror the exact voltage and wattage of the Sidel originals. Why? Because every millimeter counts. If your wattage is off by even 5%, the preform won’t hit the right temperature at the exact millisecond it hits the blow mold. To stop that from happening, we obsess over the filament length and coil density. It keeps the infrared wave output exactly where the factory intended. No rewiring, no headaches. We use high-purity quartz glass so the lamps don’t just burn out the moment things get hot. Plus, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. You just pop them in. No rewiring your racks, no messing with lamp holders—just a simple drop-in. We also add specific coatings to the quartz. This helps focus the heat directly onto the PET material instead of wasting energy heating up your oven walls. A quick word of caution. High-wattage lamps are great for high-speed runs, but they’re demanding. They put a lot of pressure on your power supply. If your electrical rails are getting old or your cooling fans are choked with dust, these lamps are going to run hotter than they should. That kills the filament. Keep your airflow clean. We’ve made sure these fit perfectly, but the air around the machine is what actually decides how long your quartz lasts.
