
Getting the Heat Right in Your Husky HyPET Systems
If you’ve spent any time with high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. It’s not about how much power you throw at the preform; it’s about where that heat actually goes. The real headache is trying to get the center of the preform hot enough without accidentally frying the outer skin. That’s exactly why we built our replacement bulbs. We wanted to fix that annoying thermal gap. The trick to deeper heat We use shortwave IR halogen tech to push heat deeper into the plastic. By tweaking the filament temp and using high-purity quartz glass, we’ve shifted the spectrum. Basically, the IR radiation slides right through the outer layers and dumps its energy straight into the core. When you use a basic bulb, you usually end up with “cold spots” in the middle. That’s how you get pearlescence or those frustrating uneven stretches. Our tubes are built for higher heat density, so those gaps just disappear. The nitty-gritty on hardware These are simple drop-in replacements. No fuss. Whether your oven uses R7s or SK15 connectors, we’ve got you covered. You can just wire them in—no need to mess around with your sockets or modify your setup. We also calibrated the voltage and wattage to play nice with Husky’s power supplies. Plus, we used a heavy-duty filament. High-speed production is brutal on equipment, and these are built to handle the rapid cycling without burning out every five minutes. One thing to keep in mind Here’s the catch: high-penetration bulbs put out a massive amount of heat. It’s great for your cycle times, but it puts a lot more pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling fans are clogged or just can’t keep up, the ambient temp inside the oven will spike. If that happens, your preforms might start to deform. Just keep a close eye on your exhaust temperatures when you make the switch. You want the heat in the plastic, not baking your machine’s chassis.
